Vern is a South Carolina native. He received his Masters of Divinity (M.Div) in 2018 from Lenoir Rhyne University at Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary. Vern is a former elementary educator, and also holds an undergraduate degree from Newberry College (2013).
Vern has a wife and a 3 year old son who are his world. He is a sports fanatic and a diehard fan of various teams. But in all truth, his friends and family would tell you that his true love in sports fandom are the University of South Carolina Gamecocks. In his spare time, Vern enjoys being outdoors, gardening, traveling, and visiting new craft breweries.
In addition to serving as Pastor at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Vern also serves as the "Interim University Pastor" at Lenoir Rhyne University in Hickory, NC.
